Young Readers Publications (YRP). YRP was
conceived in the Spring of 2000. YRP was originally going to publish personalized
children's books, but I had to put YRP on the back burner for a couple of years. Then
in the fall of 2003 I had the opportunity to bring YRP to fruition. But by now the original concept for YRP had changed.
Deciding to test the waters so to speak I
had already written and published short stories in newspapers and magazines. So I thought to myself why not write a book?
Taking a short story I had written years before and re-working it. Then
taking it a step further I had my girlfriend Sue, (who just happens to be a watercolor artist ), did the illustrations for it.
It took Sue two-and-a-half
years to do all the watercolor illustrations. Sue's interpritation of my story with her paintings was amazing! After
completing the watercolors for the book. A decision was made to make it a soft cover book instead of a hard cover.
That way it could be easily rolled up and carried. After Sue layed out the book and after we both reviewed our final
vision of it. It was sent off to the printers who sent us back a "proof copy". We made some corrections,
we had also decided to go with a soft cover instead of a hardcover, that way the book could be rolled up and stuck in a back
pocket and carried easily, to be read and enjoyed any place. It was sent it back to the printer and the rest is
history...
